VicTouch Kiosks and Volgistics

My institution has been using Volgistics for 3 years, and we're in a trial period for VicTouch.

Has anyone else had trouble with leaving iPads running VicTouch  in protected kiosk mode? The iPads keep losing connection with our servers, so whilst they look alright, when a volunteer tries to use them there is no internet connection and they cannot log in.

Suggestions? Our internet here is notably slow, especially the WiFi, but I've switched out the router and the iPad both and we're still not functional. The iPad is at my desk, two feet from the router.

    Hi Paula,

We had this same issue when we wanted to use an ipad for VicTouch.  We ended up having to set up a desktop computer, which we have for the sole use of the volunteers.  It takes up a lot more space but it's more reliable than the ipad! Let me know if you have any questions.  Our IT team set it all up and I'm not technically minded but I'll try my best to answer anything!

Lindsay, thanks for your answer! I agree, computers are a much better interface for VicNet than the iPad kiosk. I'm running about 6 computer stations, and 3 iPads, and the iPad daily issue rate is something like 75% of the time. The computer issue rate is below 5%, and when it does create difficulties it's all user error, not device platform.
