     2017 Ballot for Officers and Board Members

    Officers and members of the AAMV Board of Directors are chosen from volunteers and staff in diverse museums throughout the United States. Listed below are the names of candidates proposed for each position submitted by the Nominating Committee.  Each nominee will serve a three-year term. (See below for biographical information)

    Biographical information for new elected AAMV Board candidates (alphabetical):

    Abbey Earich is the Volunteer Recruitment and Retention Coordinator with the Smithsonian Institution’s Office of Visitor Services in the Castle. She has been in this role since 2015 and helps to develop and implement best practices in volunteer management with her colleagues around the Smithsonian. She started her museum and volunteer management career in 2009 at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science and quickly realized her passion for working with museum volunteers. Abbey has earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Marketing from the University of Colorado and a Master of Nonprofit Management from Regis University. She is a returned Peace Corps Volunteer, having served in Ukraine from 2006-2008 as an English teacher. New to AAMV Board. 

    Anna Frueh currently serves as the volunteer manager for the Newseum in Washington, D.C. where she oversees the recruitment, retention and recognition of 100-person volunteer program. She began working for the museum with the facilities department during the museum’s construction in 2007 but has spent the last seven years working with the volunteer program. In her time with the program, it has quadrupled in size and expanded into new areas - primarily focusing on in-gallery interpretation. In her spare time, she volunteers at the Hillwood Estate, Museum and Gardens with the visitor services department. She holds Bachelor’s degrees from American University in Print Journalism and International Studies and a minor in Russian Language, and a Master’s degree in Museum Studies from Johns Hopkins University.     Richard Harker is Education & Outreach Manager at the Museum of History & Holocaust Education at Kennesaw State University and for the Department of Museums, Archives, and Rare Books at Kennesaw State University. In this role he directs all education and community outreach programs including the recruitment, training, evaluation, and management of student and community volunteers. Prior to joining Kennesaw State University in 2011 Richard managed tour guides and also worked as a guide for Educational Cultural Exchanges in the United Kingdom from 2006-2009. He also served as the Vice-President of the University of St Andrews Athletic Union, an entirely volunteer organization responsible for over fifty sports teams and events at the University. Richard has a Masters degree in Modern History from the University of Durham, England, and a Ph.D. in Public History with a focus on museums from Georgia State University, Atlanta, GA. Current AAMV Vice-President.        

    Erica Holmes is Visitor Services and Volunteer Manager for the Reginald F. Lewis Museum in Baltimore MD. She has served on the boards for New Castle county Delaware’s Big Brother/Big Sister Program and also Historic Jonestown (Baltimore, MD) assisting with the implementation of the organization’s Heritage Walk. She has also served on the local host committee for American Alliance of Museums annual meeting assisting with both the volunteer and special events sub-committees. In 2012, she also served on the local host committee for the Association of African American Museums annual conference held in Baltimore. Currently completing first term as AAMV Membership Director.

    Herbert Jones is the Volunteer and Intern Program Manager at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston. Herbert has a Masters Degree in Arts Administration from Boston University and a B.S. in Economics from Northeastern University. At the MFA Herbert has managed volunteers and interns and previously worked in Human Resources. Completed two terms as AAMV New England Regional Director

    Wayne Kehoe is the Volunteer Coordinator at the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center. Wayne has been there for 8 years The Program was Legislatively created, and he was hired to develop the first Volunteer Program for The Capitol. Wayne is originally from Cleveland, Ohio where he was the Volunteer Coordinator or Visitor Services Manager at several museums. Wayne has a Master of Public Administration Degree from Cleveland State and a Bachelor Degree in History from Baldwin - Wallace College. New to AAMV Board.

    Michael Kruelle, currently Director of Operations at the International Spy Museum, has more than 20 years of experience in museum operations and volunteer management.  Before working at Spy Museum, Mr. Kruelle managed visitor and volunteer service programs at Hillwood Estate, Museum & Gardens, United States Holocaust Memorial Museum and the National Building Museum. Mr. Kruelle has served on the AAMV for over a decade, most recently as Treasurer. AAMV Treasurer.

    Jenny Woods is the Manager of Volunteer Programs for the Seattle Art Museum and has been with SAM since 2013. Throughout her 15 years in the museum field, Jenny has worked closely with volunteers and volunteer programs at a variety of museums including the Utah Museum of Fine Arts in Salt Lake City, Utah, the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery in Birmingham, UK, and several rural museums in Utah through the Museum on Main Street program. Jenny received Certification in Volunteer Administration in 2015 through the Council for Certification in Volunteer Administration. She also earned a Master of Liberal Studies in Museum Studies from the University of Oklahoma in 2006. AAMV Western Regional Director.
