Greetings,
I will be revising our volunteer position description for our front-facing visitor-engaging duty.
Conversation and inquiry are a big part of our approach. So, the position requires the ability to hear remarks from visitors and students. Since the museum can be loud, and some tiny visitors also have tiny voices, we have listed “ability to hear visitor conversation” (or something like that) in our previous position description.
Now, being additionally mindful of accessibility, I don’t want to create a barrier for prospective volunteers who may be heard of hearing. Or, should I leave the description as is?
I would value any of your responses and advice,
Thank you, ~Marne Bariso, Chicago History Museum
